Can we vote from the Netherlands for contenders from the Caribbean? Can residents from the Caribbean vote for initiatives in the Netherlands?

The answer is the same for both: yes! As a voter you are free to choose one of the contenders. It does not matter if the initiative is located in another country.

When will the winners of the Appeltjes van Oranje 2023 be announced?

The award ceremony will take place on 4 October in Paleis Noordeinde in The Hague. On that day, we will know which three initiatives have won an Appeltje van Oranje.

What is the common denominator of all contenders?

The theme of the Appeltjes van Oranje is different every year. For 2023 the theme is ''Bridge builders in the neighbourhood''.

When and how do I cast my vote?

You can cast your vote via the website from 31 May.

You do that by:

Please note: if you have not received the confirmation email, please check your spam box. All votes are registered. If you have confirmed your vote, it will also be visible on the page of your chosen project on the voting website.

Why can I only use my email address once?

Voting must be as fair as possible. That is why everyone can only cast one vote.

What do you do with my personal data when I cast a vote?

We handle your data with care. We do not share them with third parties. We will, however, keep you informed about the progress of the Appeltjes van Oranje 2023. In addition, you can indicate in the voting form whether the Oranje Fonds can keep you informed and/or can contact you by telephone without obligation.

When will the result be announced?

During the online voting round you can visit the website to see how many votes each contender has already collected. The Stemtiendaagse runs from 31 May to June 9. We will announce the results in the week after.

Who decides who wins an Appeltje van Oranje?

At the beginning of October 2023, three social projects will receive the coveted Appeltje van Oranje.
They have then completed the following selection procedure:

The first selection by the Oranje Fonds based on their registration.
Ten days of online voting from May 31st to June 9 to get public votes.
A pitch day on Saturday June 17, where contenders pitch their initiative. - on that day we will know which ten initiatives are nominated
In September 2023, the board of the Oranje Fonds will choose the three winners.

Does my vote make a difference?

Of course! By voting and asking others to do so, you extend the reach of the initiative so that they get the recognition they deserve. So call on as many acquaintances as possible to cast a vote.

Can I vote more than once?

People can vote once based on their email address. Several people from one household can therefore cast a vote, as long as their e-mail address is unique.
